THE 12 STEPS OF SERENITY

Based upon the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous

STEP One

We admit we are powerless over addiction - that our lives have become unmanageable.

STEP Two

We have come to believe that a Power greater than ourselves can restore us to sanity.

STEP Three

We make a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understand Him.

STEP Four

We make a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

STEP Five

We admit to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

STEP Six

We are entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

STEP SEVEN

We humbly ask God to remove our shortcomings.

STEP EIGHT

We make a list of all persons we have harmed, and become willing to make amends to them all.

STEP NINE

We make direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so could injure them or others.

STEP TEN

We continue to take personal inventory, and when we were/are wrong, promptly admit it.

STEP ELEVEN

We seek through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

STEP TWELVE

Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we try to carry this message to other addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
